filming schedule

every media lesson
monday - 7&8 lessons  14.45-16.15
wednesday - 1&2 lessons   9.00-10.30
friday-5&6 lessons   12.25-14.45

We have chosen these times as they are available as a basic schedule to follow and to remember to carry props and consistent clothing on these allocated dates.
The main day that is easiest to film is in the monday as we can continue the filming from 4.15 onwards with no other lessons to interfere.  In addition, on friday we have a lesson spread across lunch times therefore we can film for extra times throughout the lunch period thus having a big filming session.
From this filming schedule we can film for 5 hours and 20 minutes per week therefore within two weeks we would be able to film for 10 hours and 40 minutes if needed, if not we can use any extra time to look over the footage and begin any edited.

Opening Sequence Analysis

KIDULTHOOD

The opening sequence starts with the distribution film companies, Revolver Entertainment and Henway Films. They are of a white font and they fade into each other. We then see the two production companies, Stealth Films and Cipher Films. They are of a large bright font and sound is used to highlight their importance. The title then fades into an extreme close up on a football. There is then a whip pan left and then again right where the camera zooms shakily on two girls. The zoom highlights the importance of these characters. The shaking of the camera suggests that we, the viewer, are a student at the school and witness it from a first person view. The camera then whip pans right to three black youths who have modified their uniform in a gangster style. This could represent the stereotypical view of typical London black youths.
There is then a quick edit to an extreme close up on a drill. This emphasises that the drill is of great importance.
The camera continues to whip pan in alternative directions with medium close ups on certain different characters. This lets the viewer know that these are the main characters.
One of the group of characters that the camera whip pans to two girls who seem scared due to their posture and worried expressions. There is then a whip pan right to a group of stereotypical intimidating female "chavs." They are staring at the two previous girls and we hear one of the two girls say "They're watching us. Have you done their coursework for them" The other girl replies "No," and then looks very worried. This suggests to the audience that the two girls are getting bullied which creates tension.
There is then a close up on a boy and a girl kissing behind a tree followed by an extreme close up on the boys hand up the girls skirt. This shot has a sexual nature which will attract viewers.
Throughout the opening sequence, there is a background soundtrack with a modern beat that appeals to the majority of teenagers. Furthermore, the expletive "pussyole' is used by Sam. This shows aggression which hints that there will be violence in the film.

Graphics design

We need to choose a text style for our company/cast credits. We want our choice of text to relate to our film in terms of genre of thriller and action.  Our logo grows from a small size to present the idea that there will be a climax within the piece.

After much planning and brain-storming the name 'Mango Films' arose and was deemed appropriate.  We decided this was acceptable because it sounds different and appealing,we aim as a company to give audiences memorable experiences and recognise the company logo and production team for future reference.

As a team we are aware of the clothing company store also named 'Mango' therefore by using 'films' after we are not breaching copyright laws.   The public generally can associate the name with a young, fresh and upcoming film company.

Although the word "Mango" is not associated with horror, which is the genre of our opening sequence, we have used the font

Opening sequences analysis

MEAN MACHINE
The opening sequence starts with the camera zooming in on a football. It incorporates the Umbro logo and the slogan "licence to score with Umbro" was one with a deep masculine voice over, not specifically referring to football but the female gender. There is an extreme close up on what appears to be the main character. Special effects are used in the form of an explosion, this could suggest that the film will have action scenes in it.
The 180 degree rule was broken with quick editing when Danny Meehan is drinking whilst being pursued by the police. This highlights his lack of direction whilst under the influence. Two scenes merge together showing the two sides of the chase and how they are heading into the same direction. The title of the film and Vinnie Jones is in bright red writing in a large font zooms into the screen to highlight the speed of the car and the high profile of the actor. The rest of the credits are in the bottom right hand corner whilst the film is being played. This shows the significance of the people involved, but allows the film to continue. There is a swift change of scene to a bar. The pace from then on is a lot slower which shows that the film has begun. This is also the first time we have dialogue.
The theme of contrast between law and criminals is portrayed with the main character being arrested for drink driving. It is also hinted that football, girls and possible violence will play a significant role in the film with these factors all having a strong link with the main character.
